Buffalo Wild Wings

Address:

92 N 1200 E
Lehi, UT 84043

Price Range:

Depends on how many wings you want

Website

My sister and her boyfriend insisted we go here and get wings. I'm not a very big wing person but I was willing to put that aside for some family time and a chance to stop being a baby and grow up a bit.

Menu:

They had a number of ways of ordering. The orders come in orders of 6, 12, 18, 24, and 50. We opted to split a 50 between the four of us which was more than enough for everyone. You can do whatever you want. With splitting 50 we were able to try a number of different sauces because as long as you order them in 6s they're fine with that. I think we decided to go overboard with the Honey BBQ, which was quite alright by us.

Medium: Comfortable heat, not too much that you burn your mouth but enough to give it a little flavor.

Honey BBQ: This was the favorite. Sweet and simple with a little bit o kick.

Spicy Garlic: Strong garlic flavor, a little burn to it but more flavorful than spicy.

Asian Zing: Here is when we get into the spicy bit. I liked this spice personally, because it was almost like it wasn't spicy until the last second. By that time you've enjoyed your chicken and then you get the kick.

Thai Curry: THIS was spicy through and through. The boys were the ones that wanted it the most. I think I only had one of these but my mouth was definitely numb by the time I finished even one.

I really liked all of the sauces. We kind of had to lean on our waiter a bit because we weren't sure what flavors would be best, he made sure we only got good ones, for which I was grateful. I didn't want to spoil the experience. He was very helpful and was even nice enough to joke with us a bit.

The place is HORRIBLY loud and EXTREMELY distracting. It was really hard to have a conversation with the group because of all the loud fans screaming at weird intervals. TVs lined the walls as well so no matter where you looked, you were looking at a TV. We felt like we had to yell at each other to be heard. If I were in a quieter atmosphere, I would have enjoyed myself, but I was super overwhelmed so I didn't feel very fulfilled. I believe they have an outside seating that I would be interested to try so that I didn't have to be around  bunch of screaming fans. All in all, wings were great, not a great place to have a quiet sit down meal with some friends.

Thai Spice

Address:

854 Fort Union Boulevard
Midvale, UT 84047

Price Range:

$5-$10 per Entree

Some friends of ours decided that they wanted to make a contribution to the blog so they introduced us to Thai Spice, their favorite Thai restaurant in the Draper/Midvale area. I'm very glad they shared.

Menu:

Thai Spice Rolls (Vegetarian): These were very reminiscent of spring rolls. They were light and fresh which is important for a appetizer to be. Too many appetizers become a meal that I truly enjoyed how fresh and light these little babies were. I especially enjoyed them with the spicy chili sauce they served it with, absolutely complimented it and was not too spicy that you couldn't taste the roll. YES I KNOW I FORGOT A PICTURE. But they were all gone by the time I figured out I needed a picture. Next time.

Massaman Curry: Massaman curry is one of the dishes we like to order at Thai restaurants because its so sweet and nutty. It's peanut curry was a little on the spicier side, so I would say if you can't handle a little more spice, go easy on the sauce. The chicken was done perfectly. It was not over cooked which is common when making dishes like this, it was perfectly tender.

Gai Yang: This was also a peanut centered dish but the chicken wasn't cooked with the sauce. It seemed to be cooked on a grill and then had the sauce laid over it. This chicken was a little on the drier side, but the sauce more than made up for it. This sauce also was a little spicier, but as you can imagine the peanut flavor tones it down considerably. The green onion also takes away a bit of the spice and complimented the peanut flavor well since it was cooked just until it was sweet.

Shrimp Pad Thai: As I have previously stated, one can always tell a quality Thai restaurant by their Pad Thai. This is why I usually get the Pad Thai when I go to a restaurant. This is a quality restaurant. The Pad Thai was superb. Nice soft noodles, crunchy peanut, and the shrimp was not cooked to death so it was still tender, not tough and shriveled. It's easy to overcook shrimp, these people know what they're doing. I would highly suggest this dish if you were to give this restaurant a try.

Mango Sticky Rice: If you've never had Mango Sticky Rice, you're missing out. It's fantastic and, again, another mark of a good Thai restaurant. It was delicious. The sweetness from both the mango and the rice was so wonderful it really completed the meal.

The service was sublime, they seemed to remember us and interact with us appropriately. In small hole-in-the-wall places its easy to be forgotten because there are so few people usually there. I would go back again and give some other entrees a try just to change things up a bit.

Backeri and Eis Cafe at the Zermatt

Address:

Price Range:

$5-15

Website

Craig and I went to this little pastry shop a while ago. Craig was the one who found it when he had to do some IT stuff up at the Zermatt Resort and he couldn't stop raving about it, so we grabbed a couple of friends and trekked up there.

Menu:

Soldier Hollow: By the time we got there, it was Lunch time so we had no choice but to order their sandwiches. The Soldier Hollow consists of pickles, turkey, Swiss cheese, a tomato slice, lettuce, Dijon mustard and mayonnaise squished between a baguette sliced lengthwise. I'm not normally one for putting pickles on Deli sandwiches but in this case it definitely worked, I think my only gripe would be that the baguette was a little tough which may mean that it was a little stale or a little cold when sliced and served instead of hot and fresh. This is purely speculation. The sandwich in general was delicious, although a little pricey for what you got.

Provo River: The Provo River, on the other hand, was done on Focaccia and includes Black Forest ham, Caramelized onion, Swiss cheese, fig marmalade, and whole grain mustard. The combination of the fig marmalade and whole grain mustard provided a surprising flavor. I say surprising because the spiciness of the mustard and the sweetness of the marmalade worked really well together to soften the spice and enhance the sweet. Don't get me wrong, there were times when you got more mustard than marmalade and you thought your mouth was on fire, but when tasted with equal amounts of the marmalade it was such a complimentary combination that the occasional spice was forgivable. Alongside that, the saltiness of the Focaccia added a delightful flavor as well. I am always going to be a fan of sweet and salty flavors mixing and this is no exception.

Quiche: This was the closest to a breakfast item we could find that the time and even then that was iffy. This  quiche was made with red peppers, ham, and Swiss cheese. For a breakfast item, it would be too heavy. It had too many "brunch" type ingredients in them to make it a real breakfast quiche. But for our lunch it was just perfect. Nice and light with the sweetness from the peppers being a dominant flavor. I truly enjoyed this as a lunch item.

Dessert: Once we saw those desserts we couldn't help ourselves. We decided to go with what is called Choux. It's basically a giant round eclair filled with raspberry cream and dipped in chocolate. It was delicious. Light and creamy and the chocolate was not a hardened chocolate like I was anticipating, it was most certainly ganache which is softer when set than tempered chocolate. I thoroughly enjoyed that surprise since I always expect pastries to be dipped in tempered chocolate because its cheaper for most places to do that than make ganache. The second little delight was their famous key lime tart. It was heavenly. Not to heavy on the lime, but enough so that you could tell you were tasting lime. Lime is such a powerful flavor that I really did enjoy this, especially with the cream cheese frosting on top, absolutely made the tart. The crust was made of shortbread which is one of my favorite crusts with pies or tarts that are more tangy than sweet.

In the end the food for the most part was pretty good. I would say my gripe would be that the service was incredibly slow. They had three workers back there, two of which were taking their time and looking surly like they resented that there were customers here and the other that moved so slow it took forever for orders to be filled. We were not the only ones there so I was really disappointed about the service because everyone else with us had to deal with how slow everyone was going and how surly they were. I would not make the trek up there again...but maybe if I were tempted by one of those pastries.

Wallaby's Smokehouse

Address:

131 S State St.
Lindon, UT 84042

Price Range:

$10-20 per entree

Website

We got a coupon in the mail for Wallaby's and I decided I should give it a try. Craig had been there already on a couple of occasions and enjoyed it so I decided it was my turn to give it a try.

Menu:

Hand-pulled Pork: Although I am not a fan of pork, this was rather tender and in combination with the BBQ sauces they provided, it was delicious. It came with a huge roll that Craig couldn't finish and a side of smashers that took up about 1/3 of the plate. They were delicious!

Tri-tip Meal: I chose the tri-tip because that is what they were supposedly famous for. I will say it is not the best tri tip i've ever had. I definitely utilized the BBQ sauces with them. I would suggest getting one of the other entrees instead of paying a dollar more for mediocre tri-tip. I also got the smashers and they were amazing. I definitely had some with my tri-tip. I also got a humongous roll with my meal that I don't remember finishing.

Kid's Hot Dog Meal: We had to get Lucas something, I guess. He chose the hot dog and gobbled it up fairly quickly. With his meal he got a choice of a side, we chose the fresh vegetables. He loves his vegetables so he ate most of them, he got full pretty quick.

Oreo Brownie: Craig insisted we get this for dessert. He said he got it once and it was fantastic. This go around I wasn't that impressed, he said it tasted different than the last time he had it. I don't know what was missing. It was delicious and decadent, I'm really glad we shared because there is no way one of us could have eaten one by ourselves. It was very chocolaty so if you like chocolate I would highly suggest getting it.

Wallaby's is one of those order-when-you-walk-in-the-door-and-we'll-bring-you-your-food kind of places so there's really not much to expect from the service. I would say one thing I didn't like was having to tell the workers that I was ready for my dessert. There were certain cues we had made that if they were paying attention they would have remembered to do it. Maybe it will be better next time.

I would suggest try it if you like BBQ, but don't expect the best BBQ you've ever had.

Papa Murphey's Online Ordering

Address:

Really any of your local Papa Murphey's should have this. If not, too bad.

Price Range:

$10-$20 for one pizza (depends on the size)

Website

I know...an online post? But it was just so easy I couldn't help myself! Anywho, enjoy and give it a try, it's so much easier and you get great pizza out of it!

How To:

So on the home page, go to store location. Type in your location and choose the store closest to you. Click order now and off you go!

You will come to this page. Go to the side bar and choose what kind of pizza you want. Craig and I were in a "create your own" kind of mood so we clicked on the "Signatures & Gourmet Pizzas".

This is what we saw next. A large list of ALL the pizzas they offer. At the very bottom they have a "Create your own" or a "half and half". We went with the half and half.

It seriously is as easy as pie. Both halves have a list of all the different types of pizzas (if that's what you want to do) or you can choose which toppings you want on each side by choosing individual toppings down at the bottom. Add to order, finish and checkout.

And presto change-o, you've ordered a pizza. You can choose what day and time to pick it up and they will have it ready for you to pick up. You can even pay for it online!

We will never call Papa Murphey's again because this website is so intuitive. I love it, you should try it. It is WAY better than most pizza places' online ordering. I found that other places are just too loud and busy when I try and order from them. Enjoy!

Spencer's for Steaks and Chops

Address:

255 South West Temple
Salt Lake City, UT 84101

Price Range:

$45-$65 an Entree

Website

As you can tell you're going to have to save up considerably to go to this place. It holds a special place in my heart because one of the Chefs I worked with while in culinary school helped develop this restaurant. He even shared the recipe for the balsamic vinaigrette that is used on their signature Spencer's Salad. I was a dummy and forgot to take pictures of everything. Luckily, everything wasn't plated up in a particularly fancy way so you're not really missing much.

Menu:

Spencer's Salad: This was a delicious salad. It contained spring greens, carrots, bleu cheese, dried cherries, topped with fried leeks and served with their balsamic vinaigrette. On paper, it sounds like a weird combo. Can I tell you how wrong you are? It was such a fantastic combo of flavors with the sweetness of the cherries, the sharpness of the bleu cheese and the tangy vinaigrette. The warm crunch on the top was what really pulled it all together. I would highly suggest getting the salad with your entree.

Spencer's Steak: I got their Spencer's Steak which is an aged and seasoned rib eye. I ordered it medium-rare (is there any other way?) which made it so soft and juicy it fell apart in my mouth. My only gripe would be that there was an enormous vein of fat at the edge of it that ran into a portion of the meat and made some of the meat inedible, other than that, though, it was fantastic.

Green Beans Almondine: These were the best green beans I've ever had. Topped with sauteed onions, rendered bacon, and toasted almonds, these green beans were the crispest I've ever had them. I'm super glad I got them. If you're going to spend the extra $9 to get a side, I would highly suggest these.

Surf and Turf: Craig got the surf and turf, if a restaurant is offering it as a special, he usually goes for it. This included half of a grilled lobster tail and an 8oz. center cut rib eye. This was all served along with a side of fingerling potatoes. Craig swears the part of the lobster he ate was tender, buttery, and rich. The part I got was fatty, rubbery, and tough. I would take Craig's opinion on this one since he had more of it than I did. I guess I'm just sad that any part of a grilled lobster would be fatty, rubbery, and tough. Such is life, I'm sure it was divine. The center cut rib eye was tender and savory. The salt was not too much but just enough to enhance the flavor of the meat (which is why you should ALWAYS SALT/SEASON YOUR MEAT). The fingerling potatoes were tender and buttery. Fingerling potatoes (for those that don't know) are smaller versions of a waxy potato such as a red potato or golden potato. They're delicious little rich things that should be cooked and served with care.

Strawberry Shortcake: We weren't planning on getting a dessert but our server highly suggested it and we weren't sorry. We split it between the two of us and were glad we did. It was delicious. The shortcake was a little harder than I would have enjoyed, but the ice cream really balanced it out. I found a picture of it online because it was just so pretty I had to share!

The service wasn't $150 worth (yeah...that's what I said...), which is unfortunate because when you're spending money like that you really hope for the service to be above and beyond. I asked the server what he would suggest and he gave me some sort of "Oh the menu is too vast for me to really suggest one thing, nobody asks that sort of thing anyways". When working at a restaurant like that, you should know the menu like the back of your hand and giving me some song and dance about how you can't even make up a "favorite entree" and then telling me i'm unusual for asking. Not impressive. I gave  him the benefit of the doubt and figured, maybe he's new. But I was super sad that we were paying so much for the service to be no different than if we were to go to The Olive Garden. I've been there on a separate occasion and received remarkable service.

The ambiance was nice and they even gave us a booth. It was a very nice restaurant, we had some really rowdy construction workers that were there for drinks sitting close to us, but they left about halfway through our meal so we could enjoy the rest in relative peace.

In the end, go if you're willing to pay a lot of money for some delicious steaks.

Carrabba's

Address:

683 E. University Parkway
Orem, UT 84097

Price Range:

$10-$20

Website

This was Craig's and my choice of place to go for Valentine's Day since it sounded good and had been YEARS since I had been. Italian is fantastic so I was excited to go back and give it an honest go this time.

Menu:

Calamari (Small): Calamari is such a great appetizer and when it's done correctly I should not be able to tell that I'm eating squid. Thankfully, they did a great job ensuring that. It was lightly breaded and delightfully crispy despite calamari's tendency to be chewy or soggy. It was peppered and we had it with some marinara which was appropriate. I truly did enjoy this calamari.

Lentil and Sausage soup/ Salad: Craig chose the lentil and sausage soup as the precursor to his meal, it was spicy but comforting like all lentil soups are, but it really is on the spicier side, I suspect from the sausage but I'm sure there were additional flavors that were added to add spiciness. Again, a good soup especially if you want a little bite but the comfort of a lentil soup. I didn't get a picture of the salad because it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture. The salad was made up of average salad things (romain, celery, carrots, etc) but what was fantastic was their house salad dressing. It was a creamy Parmesan dressing that made the salad so fantastic I would go back to Carrabba's just for the dressing. Definitely get the salad when there with their house dressing.
(They give you more than that...again...we were eager)

Seafood Cannelloni: This was Craig's entree. It was Cannelloni shells stuffed with shrimp, scallops, and lobster, dripping with Rosa sauce and topped with lump crab meat and cheese. Can you really lose there? It was SO rich, Craig wasn't able to finish it, so if you really want to try it, I would suggest splitting it with your date. The sauce, although red, went surprisingly well with the seafood and was not too overpowering that the flavor of the seafood was gone but it was not fishy flavored either. I would definitely try this if you were looking to split a meal.

Pollo Rosa Maria with Mashed Potatoes: This was my meal and it was suggested to me by the waiter. I really wish this dish was what I'm sure it was supposed to be. It was described as a chicken breast stuffed  with prosciutto and fontina cheese and topped with mushrooms and a lemon butter sauce. Perhaps I got the bottom of the barrel because we were one of the last customers there but there was no prosciutto in my chicken breast and only a smidgen of fontina at the bottom of my chicken breast. I was sad, but i'm sure it would have tasted fantastic if it had been in there. The sauce was a little strong for the flavors that were going on but maybe it would have been better if the prosciutto and fontina were in the chicken breast. Either way I was sad the recommendation was a bust. The mashed potatoes were also REALLY peppery. So much so I couldn't finish them because they were ruining my palate and making it difficult for me to enjoy the rest of my meal. Again, perhaps I got the bottom of the barrel on those too. I would like to try this dish again perhaps earlier in the day to see how it would really taste.

Despite it being 9:30pm when we got there our server was a good sport and was attentive. The hostess was friendly and accommodating and the place was clean and well lit. I really enjoyed this place because it looks ritzy but it boasts Macaroni Grill type dishes with Olive Garden prices. It had the complimentary choice of soup or salad and a basket of fresh bread on the table. If it came down to choosing between Olive Garden and Carrabba's I would choose Carrabba's.

Thai Basil

Address:

2778 West 12600 South #105
Riverton, UT 84065

Price Range:

$5-$15

Website

So my cousins and I decided to give this Thai restaurant a go since it was near where my cousin lived and seemed interesting...we were mistaken.

Menu:

Pot Stickers and Fish Ball: For appetizers we got pot stickers and this dish called fish ball. The pot stickers were like any other pot sticker at an Asian restaurant. The fish ball, however, was something new. I will start out by saying I will never order this appetizer again. It wasn't horrible, it just made me feel uncomfortable. And please, try your hardest not to giggle about the description I'm about to unload, we sure had a hard time being adults when discussing them. When first biting into a ball it resisted giving into my bite and when it did give in it was unusually chewy which was a little unnerving as I knew I was eating fish (usually very tender). It didn't taste like anything so I added a little bit of the chili oil they provided for us, that didn't help much either. So I decided on my next ball I would dissect it. Essentially a fish ball is sort of like fish ham. It seemed to be compressed fish into an odd spherical skin (hence the chewiness). We asked two waiters what fish they use to make them and they both had no idea and never found out. Not my favorite appetizer and honestly, to save you the money, go with another appetizer. I'm sure it'll be better than the fish balls. (Now you may get all the giggles out you want.)

(From Left) Pad Gra Prow, Pad Thai, Tangerine Chicken

Pad Thai (Beef): As I said in my Thai Village post, the mark of a good Thai place is their Pad Thai, so that was a necessity in our order. Unfortunately it was not impressive. The sauce was not the usual Pad Thai sauce that we all know and love. In all honesty it tasted like they made Beef Lo Mein with rice noodles and put some limes next to it to make it look like Pad Thai. The beef was very tender, but had little to no flavor which is always disappointing. In the end, not a good dish unless you've always wanted to try Lo Mein with rice noodles.

Pad Gra Prow (Pork) : This dish was probably the best dish out of the three entrees we ordered. It's main flavor was the Thai Basil they used in the recipe. It was nice and light and actually complimented the pork. It's made with a variety of peppers and was actually a deep flavor which is why it complimented the pork so well. We all know I'm not a fan of pork, but it actually tasted nice. I would say my only gripe would be the pork was surprisingly fatty. I got a big ol' hunk of fat in my couple of bites of pork and it wasn't even the gristle that restaurants sometimes miss. This was a nice dish, but not nice enough to tempt me to come back.

Tangerine Chicken: This I ordered because the waiter suggested it and said it was his favorite. If you have a sweet tooth and like your Chinese food dripping with gooey sweet sauce, this is the dish for you. It was nice and sweet and we all were picking at the plate at the end of the meal, however, I felt it was a very Americanized dish and didn't taste the least bit like tangerines. I would like to note that it was supposed to be spicy...it was not, however. They had some orange peel next to it to signify that it was a citrus dish, however, no tangerine flavor. Again, if you like your dishes dripping in sweet sauce, you should get this dish.

The ambiance and decorations were very tasteful and definitely captivated the feel the restaurant was trying to encompass. They had this delightful elephant shaped chalkboard that had their specials written on it. The waiter was kind and accommodating.

As nice as the ambiance and service was, I will not be returning to this restaurant. If you're looking for good Thai food, look elsewhere, this is a place I would not suggest.

Smashburger

Address:

542 E. University Parkway
Orem, UT 84097

Price Range:

$5-$10 per meal

Website

So we went as a family to Smashburger because I had heard so many good things about it. Craig had been there before but I'd never tried it so off to Smashburger I went in hopes of a good burger.

Menu:

Classic With Cheese: This was my burger it was obviously a handmade burger which is respectable. The toppings were fresh and the cheese was not burnt onto the patty which is easy to do when things are assembled so. They also had their signature Smash sauce which was ok. I don't remember it being a truly noteworthy burger. It was pretty standard and the Smash sauce is what I really think makes it its own burger. Onto the fries. I'd heard a lot of hype about these fries and how fantastic they were so I was excited to try them. Honestly, and I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of flak about this, I wasn't the biggest fan of them. They were definitely different which makes them special, however I wasn't the biggest fan of the rosemary and olive oil. I tried dipping them in the side of Smash sauce we got with them and they tasted a little better, but not noteworthy. If anyone is severely scarred or offended by this, I apologize but to each their own.

Beehive Burger: This is the burger Craig ordered which is the burger he gets every time he goes to Smashburger. This burger was more noteworthy. It had haystack cheddar cheese, onions, and applewood smoked bacon with honey bbq sauce as it's moistening agent. I definitely remember it tasting more warm and comfort-food-like. It was definitely a messy burger which can be a good thing. In this case it was. The sauce was indeed delicious to lick off your fingers and the onions provided a very appropriate crunch. Craig also got the Smash fries so we won't go back to that description (I don't want to lose anymore readers).

Children's Plain Cheeseburger: Lucas got a plain cheeseburger. He loves plain cheeseburgers. This one was a little big so I would suggest maybe getting this burger for a child over the age of five. He ate almost half of it and got full. Craig and I helped him finish it off and for a child's burger, it was pretty good. It didn't have anything special on it, just a burger with cheese on an egg bun, but I really enjoyed how the burger tasted on its own. This is a rare occasion since most places try and cover the hamburger flavor with a bunch of sauces and toppings. An oldie but a goodie.

The interior was nice and clean. The service, despite being more fast food-esqe, was very prompt and extremely friendly. They were helpful when I had questions and the lady that brought us our food was super nice to Lucas. I think for the type of burger you're getting that it's a little expensive. Another burger restaurant I can think to compare it to is Red Robin. Same basic quality of burger and similar price range, however, with Red Robin you get a wider selection of burgers, bottomless fries, and more than one fry sauce to choose from. So I guess if someone asked if I wanted to go to Smashburger or Red Robin, I would say Red Robin.

Pantrucas

Address:

3161 N Canyon Rd
Provo, UT 84604

Price Range:

Entrees between $5-10

Website

My cousin and I were out for a girls night and decided to try something new. She was looking on yelp.com to see what was cheap and highly rated and Pantrucas fell into that category.

A pantruca is a type of dumpling common in Chilean culture that is usually eaten in soups (specifically beef based soups). You guessed it, this restaurant is a Chilean restaurant.

Menu:

Peach Juice: This was absolutely wonderful. You could hear them making it in the back. It's fresh pressed juice, they have other flavors like pineapple and mango but we were in a peachy mood and it was worth it. I highly suggest splurging and getting the juice if you go.

Beef Empanada: We ordered one to split because it would have cost us extra to get fries with our sandwiches and we decided we wanted to try the famous empanadas that were served here. It was very well done. We got the beef kind and it had little pieces of hard boiled egg in it which was surprisingly good because it added more moisture to the beef. They had cheese empanadas and ham and cheese empanadas too, but the owner said the beef was more popular. If I go here again, I may just get this next time.

Churrasco Palta: This was the sandwich my cousin got. It was beef with tomato and guacamole sandwiched between two pieces of fresh made bread. It was fantastic. I really enjoyed the bread with this sandwich because it was slightly tough on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. Also, the guacamole in both sandwiches was mixed with their house "salsa" (i'm sure they had another name for it, but it escapes me). which made the guacamole a little spicy and very flavorful. It's not too spicy that it's overwhelming, but just enough to sass your tongue a bit.

Avo Palta: The Avo Palta is the same sandwich as the Churrasco Palta except it was made with chicken instead of beef. The reason both of us went with the sandwiches is the owner said that the sandwiches were the most popular on the menu, aside from the empanadas. We weren't disappointed with the sandwiches. I would suggest them to those going to try this restaurant. Next time I may try something different, though, because the rest of the menu looked really good.

Pantrucas is most certainly a Mom and Pop restaurant. They run it, they cook, they clean, they serve and because of that they keep abnormal hours. You really have to make sure their open when you're planning on going because sometimes they take days off or afternoons off. I believe the prices on the dishes they serve are a little more expensive than what you get. However, this is no doubt due to the fact that they keep such inconsistent hours. They were very friendly and very personable. We felt that they cared about how our experience was and whether we enjoyed their food or not which, in all honesty, is what every restaurant hope s to achieve. I enjoyed the food that they made and would suggest if you are in the mood for a sandwich or empanada, try Pantruscas.

Spicy Corea

Address:

43 N University Ave.
Provo, UT 84606

Price Range:

Entree's Range from $10-15

I had never tried Korean food until my cousin introduced it to me. She lived in Korea for a little over a year on a church mission and learned to love it. She felt it necessary to share the love and I am very grateful to her. Korean food usually includes kimchi which is very high in nutrients. So I feel like a better person inside when I eat it. I craved it almost constantly when I was pregnant with my second so I've learned to grow very fond of it.

Menu:

Bulgogi: This is your average Korean BBQ beef. It's fantastic, though. It comes with onion and carrot and is marinated in this sweet soy sauce that makes it taste heavenly. It was what sold it for Craig who is a little...choosier...with his meals than I am. The meat is sliced nice and thin, marinated in the soy sauce and then barbecued until it's nice and tender. For the pickier eater I would highly suggest this.

BiBimBap: This is a usual for me and I like it with either tofu or beef. This time I decided I was in the tofu mood. It's basically a rice bowl with TONS of vegetables, kimchi and hot sauce you add yourself depending on how spicy you want it. It's topped with an egg done sunny side up. I love it, It makes me feel healthy and depending on how much sauce I put in it, it gets pretty spicy. For those a little more adventurous and open minded, I would suggest BiBimBap.

As traditional with Korean meals, there are mini "side dishes" that usually consist of kimchi, sprouts, potatoes, omelets and various other kinds of vegetables. It varies from time to time, but they're a nice little addition to whatever you're eating and gives you a chance to try new things.

We always enjoy coming here, the service is friendly though could afford to be a tad more prompt and the food is cooked fast. I've never had a problem when coming here and hope if you try it you won't either!
